For the convenience of students and colleagues the notes
related to my basic lectures on
'Principles, methods and problems in treating hydromechanical systems'
have been placed here, although not intended and ready for publication:
- Vorbesprechung, Einführung,
- Leitungsaufgaben,
- Begreifen, Beschreiben,
- System-Modelle,
- System-Modelle: Diskussion,
- Bilanz-Modelle.
Among these the lectures on 'Begreifen und Beschreiben' and
on the 'Theorie der System-Modelle' are considered to be fundamental.
The theory of 'understanding and communicating' promoted in the lectures
is perfectly in line with the theory of Michael Tomasello, who was awarded
the Hegel-Prize for his fundamental work on 2009.12.16.

In lectures at the Institut für Schiffbau und Meerestechnik
of the Universität Rostock, delivered on April 28, 1999,
the fundamentals concerning the identification of systems
and the estimation of spectra have been developed. The
- ISM Rostock '99 presentation
on systems identification has recently been translated into English.
No paper available yet.

Pre-requisite for many tasks, most prominently systems
identification, is the reliable estimation of spectra.
Details of an adequate routine to be found in the
- STG Hamburg '98 paper,
the missing results to befound in the following files,
- STG Hamburg '98 presentation
- Presentation in english,
further the subroutines developed and a special test case
- FTP subroutines.
- FTP test case..
Various corrections, the last on January 17, '99,
based on discussions with Professor Heinrich Söding,
have been made after the presentation and distribution of
the paper at the STG Meeting on Ships in Waves at Hamburg
on September 17, 1998. A short version of the paper will
be published in Jahrbuch STG 93 (1998), the full paper has
been published in Schiffstechnik/Ship Technology Research
Vol. 46 (1999) No. 2, pp 111-127, together with the discussion
by Söding:

- The Programme
was part of the 98th STG Annual Meeting.
Opening addresses have been delivered by
the President of the Technical University Berlin,
the Chairman of the Schiffbautechnische Gesellschaft and
the Director of the Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau.
Notes on the history, the research and the jubilee meeting
are to be found in
